Becoming : is it me ?

Installation

June 2025

London

“Becoming: Is It Me?” is a multimedia work built from one hundred fragmented personal entries written by the artist and later reprocessed through artificial intelligence. The project examines how authorship, memory, and emotional authenticity shift when personal narratives pass through computational systems.

The entries move across themes of family, migration, mental health, and ambition. Rather than forming a linear story, the fragments loop, contradict, and return—reflecting the unstable nature of memory itself.

Thermal printing plays a central role in the work. The printed texts gradually fade over time, introducing a material metaphor for forgetting and erasure. What appears as an archive is therefore temporary: a record that slowly disappears.

Through this interaction between personal writing and machine mediation, the work questions where authorship resides once a narrative is processed by an algorithm. If a system helps reshape the story, who ultimately speaks?

Positioned between the intimate and the procedural, Becoming: Is It Me? reflects on how identity is constructed, remembered, and altered within technologically mediated environments.
